Great news! Our new song that is ALMOST done is called "Burned Once But Not Twice"! Nice title huh? What's awesome about this song is that it's a remake of an old tune of mine... On my "Insanity" album, I wrote a song called "Burned Once But Not twice" .... An idea I got from the Waiting to Exhale book (not to be mistaken with the movie... book is always MUCH better than the movie) ... I wrote the original song when I was maybe 13 years old. It was my first attempt @ a song.... Ended up being a great one! So with the help of Nick Rosen (talented pianist) we got the original version up and recorded! but nothing happened with the song.... it stayed there... until Johnny Matrik heard the song and said, "You need to re-write this and make it a Positive Perception song".
The challenge was writing a completely new song over completely new chords, but with that title (he loved the title)
So I thought.... Burned Once but Not Twice..... yeah! the story of my life!
And so began the labor pains of what is now one of the most honest songs I have ever written in my life. It's me. I, Natalie Fernandez, have been made into a song.
It's a very vulnerable place to be in..... but, it was amazing. With the magic that Johnny puts on ANY track, it is now one of my favorite songs..... of ALL TIME.
I do hope (soon) it will be listed as one of yours....
The great news is that today he finished laying the drums down on it... so, soon it will be playing in your ears !!!!!!!
I can't wait!
